Brookings Summer Bucket List

Jackrabbits — one week of summer vacation under your belt, and *sigh* it feels good. Winding down from Finals Week mayhem, we hope you caught up on sleep and Netflix, but what does the rest of summer hold? If staying in town over break, fill free time with adventures to Brookings hotspots and events. It’s bound to be one of the best summers yet.

Brookings Summer Bucket List

College Night at the BCOAC

Every Wednesday, enjoy 50% off a day pass. (Just show your student I.D.) We offer firearm rentals and use of archery equipment.

Dakota Nature Park

Dust off your fishing poles. Up the adrenaline at the terrain park. Try bird watching. The Larson Nature Center also rents canoes, paddle boards, bicycles, etc., so make a day of it.

Brookings Cinema 8

$5 movie Tuesdays is a sweet treat that doesn’t break the bank. See Avengers: Infinity War three weeks in a row. We won’t judge.

VFW Bingo

Bingo is for all ages, so every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday take a shot at the jackpot.

Brookings Arts Council

Unleash your inner Picasso. Try a pottery or painting class, hosted by talented local instructors.

Downtown at Sundown

Live music + community = a perfect way to enjoy a Thursday evening. The concert series kicks off July 12.

Prairie Repertory Theatre

Every summer, SDState and traveling students showcase productions on campus. Bye Bye Birdie premieres Wednesday, June 6. (Bonus: Students get in free with I.D.)

McCrory Gardens

Get lost exploring the gardens, or find a spot to kick back and relax in the sunshine. (Bonus 2.0: This is also free for students!)
